The Bulcock Beach foreshore is a spectacular piece of the Queensland coast.  A natural outlook across the sparkling waters of the Pumicestone Passage, the foreshore has views from the northern tip of Bribie Island National Park and further west to the Glasshouse Mountains.  In 2007 PLACE Design Group was first commissioned by the Sunshine Coast Council to undertake master plan review, design development, stakeholder consultation and to prepare detailed tender documentation for the Bulcock Beach Esplanade Redevelopment. In 2013 this redevelopment was completed and the foreshore area not only preserved but reinvigorated.

Tavira Island | Algarve Portugal | EXTRASTUDIO

EXTRASTUDIO in collaboration with landscape architects Oficina dos Jardins, won the competition for Tavira’s Island Regeneration, in Algarve, the southern coast of Portugal.Launched by Sociedade Polis Litoral Ria Formosa in collaboration with ParqueExpo and Tavira’s Municipality, the project includes the exist-ing infra-structures and landscape re-qualification.

Sociedade Polis was generated by Parquexpo, the public company responsible for the construction and management of Lisbon’s EXPO 98, and which as since then the major players behind the successful urban regeneration in all major Portuguese cities, using architecture as a key element in the modernization of public space. Since 2009 both compa-nies have been addressing the coastline re-qualification of Algarve.

StudioOutside is leading a comprehensive team in the redevelopment master planning for Galveston Island State Park. Ravaged by Hurricane Ike, the park is a dynamic environmental remnant of the Texas barrier island system that offers the full “bay to beach” experience. The master plan infuses a holistic approach to habitat restoration, visitor experience, recreation, and economic sustainability. The diversity of Galveston Island State Park (GISP) is like none other on the Texas coast. Showcasing a complex mosaic of coastal dunes, strand prairies, and salt marsh, the park is a dynamic environmental remnant of the Texas barrier island system, offering an unparalleled “beach to bay” experience that is no longer attainable elsewhere on the island.
