Stretching along Manhattan’s west side, Riverside Park South is an urban miracle on the Hudson and the last link in Manhattan’s west side greenway. Its creation involved working with local and state government agencies, community groups, stakeholders and the client to create a vibrant new public space that reintroduced the community to the water’s edge and responded to the unique industrial history and riparian ecology of the site.

NZILA Resene Pride of Place Landscape Awards 2010 announced

New Zealand’s prestigious Landscape Architecture Awards ceremony was held on Friday 16th April in Wellington.

‘NZILA Resene Pride of Place Landscape Architecture Awards 2010′ provided a record 127 entrants with tougher competition than ever before. Award-winners, who are chosen by the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects’ judges just once every two years, received Golds, Silvers and Bronzes, while a select few received a Gold or Silver plus additional titles of excellence.

Winner of the event’s most coveted title, the Supreme Award, was Aucklander John Potter of Boffa Miskell Ltd, for his design of St Patrick’s Square by St Patrick’s Cathedral of Wyndham Street, Auckland.

Landscape Institute announces 2009 Awards

Landscape Institute announced the 2009 Landscape Institute Awards recently with Gillespies winning the President’s Award for St Andrew Square in Edinburgh. The Peter Youngman Award which is awarded each year for outstanding contribution to landscape was awarded to the Olympic Delivery Authority for their visionary plans for a new London park.

CSLA Honours Landscape Architects with Recognition Awards

The Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) presented seven landscape architects with its Recognition Awards at its national Congress GALA.

The CSLA Lifetime Achievement Award is bestowed upon landscape architects whose lifetime achievements and contributions to the profession have had a unique and lasting impact on the welfare of the public and on the environment.

The CSLA presented two Lifetime Achievement Awards in 2009 to Michael Hough, OALA, FCSLA and Macklin Hancock, OALA, FCSLA.

The Schwabenbauer Award was awarded the Cecelia Paine, OALA, FCSLA

The CSLA presented two Teaching Awards in 2009, to Charles Thomsen, MALA, FCSLA of the University of Manitoba and to Douglas Paterson, BCSLA, FCSLA of the University of British Columbia.

In 2009 outgoing President Cathy Sears, AALA, CSLA presented the The CSLA- AAPC President’s Award to Gérald Lajeunesse AAPQ, OALA, FCSLA and Ronald Middleton, AALA, FCSLA for their commitment and dedication to landscape architecture in Canada.
