The Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) announced the national and regional winners of its annual Awards of Excellence. This year, 11 projects received a national award – preeminent examples in Canadian landscape architecture, honouring distinctive design, ground-breaking research, and sustainable landscape management. These award-winning projects illustrate the range of what landscape architects do. They are helping to reshape our communities – defining the places we want to live, work and play. Winners were selected by a national jury of landscape architects. National and Regional awards are presented in three categories: Honour, Merit, and Citations.

CALL FOR ENTRIES | 2015 Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellece

 

The Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence (RBA) celebrates urban places that are distinguished by quality design and their social and economic contributions to our nation’s cities. Winners offer creative placemaking solutions that transcend the boundaries between architecture, urban design and planning and showcase innovative thinking about American cities. One Gold Medal of $50,000 and four Silver Medals of $10,000 will be awarded. Projects must be a real place, not just a plan or a program, and be located in the 48 contiguous United States. Award winners may use prize money in any way that benefits the project.

The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) National Awards has announced the 2014 National Awards with with Taylor Cullity Lethlean (TCL) winning the Australian Medal for Landscape Architecture. The AILA National Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions in design, planning, urban design, land management, research and communication and residential landscape architecture.

Call for Submissions | Malaysian Landscape Architecture Awards 2014

Each year, ILAM presented the outstanding Malaysia Landscape Architecture Awards to Malaysian landscape architecture practices and related fields. The awards are open to all project submissions,  which have not won any previous ILAM MLAA Awards. The official entrant must be submitted by the member of ILAM (Except Student Member) from the consultancy firm which was involved in the submitted project.

TOPOS landscape award 2014 goes to LOLA landscape architects

LOLA landscape architects is proud to receive the international Topos Landscape Arward 2014. The Topos Landscape Award 2014 will be presented to landscape architects LOLA (Lost Landscapes) from Rotterdam, the Netherlands. LOLA researches and designs the never ending development of the landscape, city as well as countryside. Founded by Peter Veenstra, Eric-Jan Pleijster en Cees van der Veeken in 2006, LOLA designs and researches public space at different scales. A total of 15 people work at the office. Past awards have gone to Peter Latz (Kranzberg), Stig L. Anderssons Tegnestue (Copenhagen), Karres en Brands (Hilversum), Gross.Max. (Edinburgh), McGregor and Coxall (Sydney), Stoss LU (Boston), Antje Stokman (Hamburg), and Taktyk (Brussels/Paris). This year’s Topos Landscape Award will be presented at the Rolex Education Centre of EPFL university in Lausanne on October 8th.

In the age of the economic boom, the modernisation in China is speedily rushing out traditional cultures that once dominated civilization and assembled local identities. While the city transformation seems to be inevitable, it also becomes increasingly vital to preserve the collective memories in the age of globalization. The Beijiao Cultural Centre is an experiment that investigates and examines how regional architecture can bridge the emerging contemporary city with its cultural reminiscence.

CSLA announces Awards of Excellence winners

The Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA-AAPC) has announced this years national and regional Awards of Excellence. Brian Parker, Chair of the Awards of Excellence jury stated “More and more frequently landscape architects appear to be leading projects that are increasingly multi-disciplinary. Collaborative work with engineers, architects and planners bodes well for the profession.”.

Winners were selected by a national jury of landscape architects. National and Regional awards are presented in three categories: Honour, Merit, and Citations. Honour Awards recipients demonstrate excellence in all
judging criteria, Merit Awards in some criteria, and Citations in particular categories.

The awards will be presented at a gala during the CSLA Congress to be held at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa on Saturday, May 31st, 2014.
