The Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) announced the national and regional winners of its annual Awards of Excellence. This year, 11 projects received a national award – preeminent examples in Canadian landscape architecture, honouring distinctive design, ground-breaking research, and sustainable landscape management. These award-winning projects illustrate the range of what landscape architects do. They are helping to reshape our communities – defining the places we want to live, work and play. Winners were selected by a national jury of landscape architects. National and Regional awards are presented in three categories: Honour, Merit, and Citations.

The largest housing association in Munich, GEWOFAG, organized a closed competition for the redevelopment of a residential area of 340 dwellings around the Ludlstrasse in Munich. The team of Mei Architects & Planners and Felixx Landscape Architects & Planners joined the competition as one of 12 renowned international teams. With their entry ‘Neue Nachbarschaften’ they are one of the three prize winners. The jury report states: ‘It is refreshing to see how the Dutch have dealt with this design task. The Dutch are one step further in thinking about how neighborhoods should function”

March 2, 2015 will kickstart a month-long BxW NYC exhibition at the Center for Architecture during Women’s History Month, with the support of the Women in Architecture committee of the AIA New York Chapter. The exhibition will showcase 98 award-winning projects created by women including 103rd Street Community Garden, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Brooklyn Navy Yard Roof Farm, Hudson River Park and many more.
Built by Women (BxW) is a social and educational initiative, celebrating women’s contributions to the built environment. In addition to recognizing and supporting the diverse women working in these professions, BxW provides both current professionals and students strong role models and mentors.

In 2012, Studio Octopi were appointed to undertake the modernisation of the theatre with the intention to reopen in time for a performance of Antigone in June 2014. The original ‘temple’ theatre building was condemned in 2009, so the College needed a new theatre building or Skene that would enable increased versatility of the theatre. Forward of the Skene, sits the stage and orchestra. In the 1960’s when the stage was extended the circular Orchestra was truncated, there was now an opportunity to reconnect the concrete terraces with the stage. Finally, circulation had always been a victim of the theatre’s success. With the entrance almost impossible to find and precariously steep stairs down into the auditorium reorientating the theatre to offer improved access was crucial. Within the theatre, years of undergrowth and landslides further hampered circumnavigation of the auditorium.
