Liquid substances on Earth naturally fall and flow to the lower grounds, forming an erosion landscape that humans find beautiful. Our site located at the intersection where the flow meets the ground and is surrounded by mountains. The process of erosion inspired the shape of the landscape became the feature of our designs.

LOLA landscape architects is proud to receive the international Topos Landscape Arward 2014. The Topos Landscape Award 2014 will be presented to landscape architects LOLA (Lost Landscapes) from Rotterdam, the Netherlands. LOLA researches and designs the never ending development of the landscape, city as well as countryside. Founded by Peter Veenstra, Eric-Jan Pleijster en Cees van der Veeken in 2006, LOLA designs and researches public space at different scales. A total of 15 people work at the office. Past awards have gone to Peter Latz (Kranzberg), Stig L. Anderssons Tegnestue (Copenhagen), Karres en Brands (Hilversum), Gross.Max. (Edinburgh), McGregor and Coxall (Sydney), Stoss LU (Boston), Antje Stokman (Hamburg), and Taktyk (Brussels/Paris). This year’s Topos Landscape Award will be presented at the Rolex Education Centre of EPFL university in Lausanne on October 8th.

Governors Island opened to an eager public on Saturday, May 24. Thousands of visitors enjoyed the Island’s”new round fountains, swooping paths, elliptical enclosures, fluid flower beds, and undulating lawns” and reveled in the abundance of arts and crafts, musical and theatrical performances that were part of the Opening Day Family Festival hosted by the Governors Island Alliance.

reSITE conference will be held in Prague, Czech Republic on June 19-20. reSITE is heading into its third year and quickly becoming one of the premier architecture, urbanism and landscape architecture events. reSITE 2014 will include presentations, panels and debates with over 50 leading experts from Europe, Asia and North America, while hundreds of conference delegates from dozens of countries will enrich the dialogue and experience of answering questions and forming new ones.
reSITE conference takes aim at the question of modernizing and improving the metropolis. The conference will focus on providing solutions for the conflicted desires of Central European citizens; to grow and yet weave in a complex past. The themes that parallel reSITE – architecture, politics, finance, planning and democracy – they all meet when one thinks of public space. A major goal of the conference is to catalyze you – the public, design and business community – to influence positive changes in cities while we encourage municipal leaders to answer the design challenges of our generation. The Landscape Architecture Legacy of Dan Kiley exhibition opens February 8 at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C., showcasing a selection of newly commissioned photographs of projects by Dan Kiley (1912–2004), one of the most important and influential Modernist landscape architects of the 20th century. The retrospective runs through May 18, 2014.
