The Landscape Institute has announced the shortlist for the 2013 Awards with some great projects vying for the President’s Award including Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, the Olympic Park design for the 2016 Rio Olympics, Gorky Park in Moscow and the transformation of London’s Leicester Square. The winner will be announced on the 21st November at a lunchtime ceremony hosted by Wayne Hemingway

The Australian Garden, designed by Taylor Cullity Lethlean (TCL) with Paul Thompson, has won the ‘Landscape of the Year Award’ at the prestigious World Architecture Festival (WAF) Awards 2013. The award was one of three major prizes announced at a gala dinner awards ceremony on 4 October at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The ceremony marked the culmination of WAF 2013 – the largest festival and live awards programme for the global architecture community, which ran over three days from 2-4 October.

UPDATE | 2014 Design Intelligence rankings are now available
Design Intelligence has announced the 2013 America’s Best Architecture and Design Schools including the top landscape architecture schools in the USA. This is the third year we are sharing the list with our readers. The ranking is determined by surveying respondents selected from lists of undergraduate and graduate landscape architecture programs accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board.
LSU and Harvard have maintained their top ranking for Undergraduate and Graduate programs, whilst Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University has risen to second spot for both its Undergraduate and Graduate programs.

A design competition was held in late 2011 to create designs for the North Park Hub and Playground, the social focus of the northern part of the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and a key resource for local residents after the 2012 Games. London-based firm erect architecture were chosen for their winning design concept to create a community hub building integrated into the parkland and river valley of the north park area.
