Major New Art Museum to Help Spark Presidio Rejuvenation

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Doris and Donald Fisher today unveiled an elegant conceptual design for the proposed Contemporary Art Museum at the Presidio (CAMP), which will house the Fishers breathtaking collection of modern art and significant art education programs for the public.

The graceful, light-filled building is envisioned by Gluckman Mayner Architects as a contemporary response to the scale, material and topography of the Presidios Main Post that will complement the surrounding historic buildings and landscape.

Slums bursting at the seams

More than three hundred thousand people could be living in sub-human conditions in the slums by the end of the decade if the unplanned growth of the Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi continues, urban planners associated with private companies say. Various civic agencies of the twin cities would be largely responsible for this horrendous state of affairs. “Non-adherence to the sensible planning has already driven the twin cities to the brink of a breakdown, bringing the services and utilities under severe strain from more than 13 hundred thousand people (the current population of the twin cities),” a member of the Rawalpindi planning board says.

“That’s the key,” said Michael Lappin, president of the Community Preservation Corp., adding, “We have pledged both a higher percentage of units and a deeper income level” than other developments in Brooklyn.”
