The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) and the Portland Cement Association (PCA) have once again combined efforts to offer the seminar Pervious Concrete – A Stormwater Solution in four additional cities in 2008. The seminar has been offered in 28 cities over the last two years. New seminars are scheduled for:
* November 18 – St. Louis
* December 5 – Boise, ID
* December 10 – San Francisco
* December 16 – Albuquerque, NM

Chen Zhili, head of the Beijing Olympic Village, received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold award here on Wednesday presented by the U.S. Green Building Council.
On behalf of the council, U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson honored the award to Chen, who is also vice president of the Beijing Organizing Committee of the 29th Olympic Games (BOCOG).
Chen noted that the concept of “Green Olympics, High-Tech Olympics and People’s Olympics” has been fully implemented at the Beijing Olympic Games. The award affirmed the cooperation between China and the United States in clean energy technology for Olympic Games.

As part of the 11th International Architecture Exhibition “Out There: Architecture Beyond Building”, West 8 will participate in “Uneternal City. Thirty years after Roma interrotta”. This is a specific section in the Artiglierie dell’Arsenale dedicated to the city of Rome.
Together with eleven other Italian and international design studios West 8 was asked to re-imagine the City of Rome.

More than 550 companies from across the world have registered their interest in an international design competition to create inspirational public spaces in six town centres in Lancashire.
The brief for Pennine Lancashire Squared will be launched this Friday (August 15) in Nelson, but the competition has already attracted interest from more than 40 countries, including China, Australia, India, Venezuela, Vietnam, Iran, Serbia and Peru. Further interest has come from Qatar, Norway, Jordan and Croatia.
