Eco Expo Asia opens next week

Eco Expo Asia 2008 is scheduled to open on 28 October at AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong on the themes of air quality, eco-friendly products, energy efficiency and waste & recycling. Now in its third year, the event has confirmed over 130 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions, and will be held in tandem with the Eco Asia Conference led by a panel of international industry experts. The Hon. Edward Yau, JP, Secretary for the Environment for the Hong Kong government will be the official guest of honour on the opening day.

HK under fire for bright lights

Many green groups have recently taken aim at lighting in the international city of Hong Kong. Friends of the Earth have called upon retailers to minimise the lighting and to turn off many of its lights during the (after 2am).

China sets library standards for booming urban communities – Xinhua

“China’s Ministry of Culture on Tuesday set building standards of public libraries to ensure that they can meet the demands of the country’s booming urban population.

Population size would be the major reference for the size of new libraries from Nov. 1, the ministry said in a circular.”
