The American Surveyor Magazine  reports “Langan Engineering & Environmental Services, a premier land development engineering and environmental consulting firm, has announced the opening of a new office in Arlington, Virginia. The latest Langan office will provide the firm’s integrated suite of geotechnical, site/civil, and environmental engineering services to developers, property owners, architects, and corporate clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region.”

Kolkata’s runway dreams

Business Standard reports “Even as private airport developers in Delhi and elsewhere struggle to find money for their projects, Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport has begun work on a Rs 1,942.51-crore modernisation exercise that will enhance its capacity five-fold to 24 million passengers per annum, and, allow the ultra-large A380 aircraft to land and take off from its tarmac. The time-frame for the first phase of the project is a little over two years.”

Design team chosen for transport interchange – Rochdale Online

Rochdale Online reports

“Rochdale’s new public transport hub came a step closer to reality this week after Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive announced the five-strong design team for the £11.5million project.

Aedas Architects and surveying firm Davis Langdon will join engineering and construction specialists Atkins, Jacobs and Marston and Grundy will design the Smith Street interchange on the River Roch.”

North Wales’ first eco-friendly school opens – Daily Post North Wales

Daily Post North Wales reports “NORTH Wales’ first-ever green school opens its doors to more than 300 pupils on Anglesey today.

The relocated £3.7m Ysgol-y-Graig, which is built from sustainable timber, will generate its own electricity.”
