Landscape Institute reports that
Grounds for Optimism launched successfully to secondary schools across South East England and Yorkshire and Humberside this September. 100 schools have now signed up to take part along
with many landscape practices.
The repsonse has been fantastic but they are still looking for more landscape professionals to sign up and take part in supporting the schools.
In February 2009 Grounds for Optimism will shortlist school entries down to 10 in each region and each of these schools will be teamed
up with a landscape practice.
Practices need to be willing to donate a minimum of three days of time to supporting these schools. Guidelines will be supplied to all interested practices that have signed up.
Involvement could help schools to refine their designs, understand cost implications, improve their presentations and plan their use of space better.
All the shortlisted schools will have the opportunity to present their designs at a prestigous event next summer, with one
school being chosen as a Gold Award
