… green displays are obviously high on the agenda in Liverpool at the moment, with Green Spot’s temporary woodland installation appearing in the courtyard of the newly refurbished Bluecoat centre, just a day ahead of another Biennial plantation by architect firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro.
Both installations involve trees being planted on a temporary basis, though Green Spot is notable because of its hefty backing. The Forestry Commission and the Environment Agency are just two of the major partners working with communications firm Creative Concern to make the project happen. As such, Green Spot arrives with serious ambitions, above and beyond the usual artistic concepts involved in gallery-based displays.
