In April 2009, The Architecture Foundation organised three roundtable debates to examine the nature of the dramatic economic and ecological challenges facing built environment practitioners. The debates were titled – AND NOW WHAT: Rethinking Spatial Practice During Crisis. The Architecture Foundation recently posted the video on Vimeo. Leighton awarded expansion of Brisbane’s busway network

Leighton Contractors, in an alliance with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, SKM and AECOM, has been awarded a combined $282 million contract to deliver the Eastern Busway – Buranda to Main Avenue to expand Brisbane’s unique busway network.

The Eastern Busway Alliance will design and construct the 1.05 kilometre section of busway including new busway stations at Stones Corner and Langlands Park, along with a combination of tunnels and
bridge structures.

Reburbia Finalists Announced – Inhabitat

AEC World Expo Videos – Inspiration for your weekend

Surfing through the net today and I found this post from Archinect about videos from AEC World Expo Online Conference. 21 videos (about 45 minutes each) from the various professionals. in their fields such as Wil Alsop, Alejandro Zaera Polo, Frank Gehry, Ben Van Berkel, Fred Dust and many others. Some of the videos are interviews and others are lectures given are different events. The theme for the videos is Technology and its role in areas of design.

Taipei Pop Music Center International Design Competition

To encourage pop music creation, patronage performing talents and teams, integrate relevant peripheral industrial development, the R.O.C. plans to build a large pop music performing center in northern Taiwan with outdoor performing plaza and relevant measures. It is aimed to support development of the pop music industry in Taiwan with the goal of becoming the leading center of the Chinese creative music development internationally and for industrial experiment. The government is now actively pushing for the Northern Taiwan Pop Music Center Construction Plan.

With an area of approximately 7.65 hectares, the center base is located in Nangang District, Taipei City, nearby the MRT Kunyang Station. The principal space design comprises of an indoor performing hall with 4500-6000 seats, an outdoor performing space with 15000 standing seats, exhibition space for reputed musicians, a digital library, a medium and small indoor exhibition and performing live house, industrial communities and incubation space, etc.
