As part of the 11th International Architecture Exhibition “Out There: Architecture Beyond Building”, West 8 will participate in “Uneternal City. Thirty years after Roma interrotta”. This is a specific section in the Artiglierie dell’Arsenale dedicated to the city of Rome.
Together with eleven other Italian and international design studios West 8 was asked to re-imagine the City of Rome.

Ivor Catto, currently a member of the Executive Board of Atkins, has been named as successor to Tim Wade as chief executive of Hyder Consulting.
He will take on the role on 1 December. Tim Wade, who had announced he would retire on 31 August, will stay on until that date.

CBC.ca reports that 15 solar-powered cars, including four managed by teams from Canadian schools, rolled out of a suburb of Dallas, Texas, on Sunday en route to Calgary in the 2008 North American Solar Challenge.

Scotsman.com reports that RMJM the Edinburgh based firm has launched a project worth £1m in conjuction with the Stephen Lawrence Trust to encourage more inner city youths from ethnic minorities to pursue a career in architecture.
RMJM worked on the Scottish Parliament building hopes that the project will increase the diversity and creativity of architecture and help address the global skills shortage that will become more pressing over the next 25 years as more architects retire.
