“Designs for the Pier Head
Southend PierSouthend Borough Council working with the Landscape Institute are running an international competition to design a new landscape and buildings for the pier head at Southend Pier.
The competition will seek to bring forward designs to reinvigorate the pier head and turn it once more into a major attraction for both tourists and residents.
Designers will be challenged to develop the pier head in a manner that builds on the town’s cultural attractions and also makes the most of its important heritage.”

Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) has launched a competition using Youtube to promote landscape architecture.
The creative competition is open anyone living in Canada who is over 18 years old.
A video must be less than 3 minutes and be submitted for entry by 31st July 2009.

Department of Culture and Arts – Western Australia annnounces
situate is an international sculpture competition for Perth, Western Australia.
Forrest Place, which is the location of a proposed major multi-million dollar upgrade, has been announced as the site for the artwork.
situate has been designed to encourage innovative partnerships between creative minds from a range of disciplines.
$1million is being offered for an artwork to transform the city landscape and represents a new challenge to public art and its interaction with the built environment in WA.
