Architect Safdie won’t be drawing up master plan

Moshe Safdie, the world-renowned architect behind Montreal’s Habitat 67, has been squeezed out of drawing up the master plan for the future hospital of the McGill University Health Centre, The Gazette has learned.

The MUHC announced with great fanfare in November 2006 that it had hired Safdie to design the hospital to be built on the site of the former Glen railway yard in the city’s west end.

The Creating the Future Awards 2008 have opened for entries. The awards celebrate achievement in the public, private and third sectors.

This is the Government’s national awards scheme for sustainable communities. This high profile event is an opportunity to showcase ground breaking work.

Each winner will feature on a state-of-the-art case study website which is being launched in 2008.

Applications must be submitted to the awards team by 5.00pm on 25th January 2008. The actual awards ceremony will take place on 5th June 2008.
