Back in 2009, I posted a short news summary about plans to create a plaza to remember the falling of the Berlin Wall at the border crossing at Bornholmer Strasse. Recently, I was wondering if the plaza was completed and contacted sinai, the firm who were commissioned to develop the design and found out that indeed the plaza to commemorate such a historic moment in time had been completed.

The border checkpoint at Bornholmer Straße is known as the place where the Berliner Wall fell. Here next to the Bösebrücke a space of remembrance for November 9 was formed – a space for remembering a single day.

Lincoln’s Block 68 | Lincoln USA | Design Workshop

A tired surface parking lot in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska will soon become an oasis of activity at the corner of N and 11th Street. Design Workshop out of Denver, Colorado is working in coordination with Shepley Bulfinch Architects to transform this unproductive space into a hardworking, active city block.

The project developed a design idea for an elevated bike infrastructure in Genoa’s east Valley, known as Val Bisagno. The valley has been named after the seasonal stream that rushes through it, nowadays the area is one of Genoa’s busiest urban periphery, with 130.000 inhabitants and two major issues:
1) The recurring floods of the seasonal stream.
2) The lack of sustainable mobility plans.

Bottleneck Park (Flaschenhalspark) opens in Tempelhof- Schöneberg

On 21 March 2014, Bottleneck Park (Flaschenhalspark) was opened by the Senator for Urban Development and Environment Michael Müller together with the District Mayor Angelika Schoettler, the Councillor for Health, Social and Urban Development Dr. Sibyll block and the City Council for Building Daniel Kruger of the district Tempelhof Schoeneberg as well as the Managing Director of UTB GmbH Thomas Bestgen the southern continuation of the park of the park at the railway triangle, the so-called Bottleneck Park (Flaschenhalspark).

The unusual name comes from the bottleneck of its shape, which resembles an upside-down bottle. The 5.5 hectare site is located in the district of Tempelhof-Schöneberg on the former railway land between Yorckstraße and Monument Bridge.
