This public boardwalk in Pyrmont, Sydney, completes the foreshore upgrades to Jacksons Landing – a waterfront community over 10 years in the making. The new wharf strengthens the open space connections between the significant foreshore parks to the north and south, provides an opportunity to engage with the water, and a generous shared path along the waterfront.

The Australian Garden, designed by Taylor Cullity Lethlean (TCL) with Paul Thompson, has won the ‘Landscape of the Year Award’ at the prestigious World Architecture Festival (WAF) Awards 2013. The award was one of three major prizes announced at a gala dinner awards ceremony on 4 October at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The ceremony marked the culmination of WAF 2013 – the largest festival and live awards programme for the global architecture community, which ran over three days from 2-4 October.

These green interventions have the capacity to cool the urban environment, reduce energy consumption, mitigate flooding and increase habitats for biodiversity. They provide an opportunity to evolve the way we develop the built environment, to maximise existing infrastructure and lower the need for costly upgrades.
