2013 Campus RainWorks Challenge

The USEPA’s Office of Water is pleased to announce the 2nd annual Campus RainWorks Challenge for college and university students. Once again, EPA is inviting student teams to design an innovative green infrastructure project for their campus showing how managing stormwater at its source can benefit the campus community and the environment.

This project establishes two major landmarks on UCSF’s Mission Bay campus. A new entrance welcomes visitors from downtown San Francisco, and a one-acre courtyard connects the Helen Diller Family Cancer Research Building and the new Smith Cardiovascular Research Building, a five-story, 236,000-square-foot laboratory facility. The facility houses specialized cardiovascular research groups and associated administrative and support functions and includes an 8,000-square-foot outpatient clinic.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Opens Historic Monks Garden Redesigned by Michael Van Valkenburgh

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum unveiled today the Museum’s historic Monks Garden redesigned by Michael Van Valkenburgh. The Garden, which was originally designed by Isabella Stewart Gardner during the installation of the Museum in 1901, has been reinstalled several times since that time. Van Valkenburgh was commissioned in 2012 to redesign the cloistered garden adjacent to the historic building and connected to the exterior gardens which surround the Museum’s new wing designed by Renzo Piano.
