Ann Arbor News – MLive.com reports

“Ann Arbor elected officials Monday OK’d a $77,000 fee for German artist and landscape architect Herbert Dreiseitl to develop a proposal for a three-part art installation on the city hall property.

The project is the first undertaken by the Ann Arbor Public Art Commission.”

Downtown Alliance Wants To Bring Life to Water Street – Tribeca Trib

The Tribeca Trib reports that the Downtown Alliance in Lower Manhattan (NY) is looking into animating Water Street as more companies move out and the street lacks activity at night and on weekends.

The Downtown Alliance has hired Starr Whitehouse Landscape Architects and Planners and FxFowle Architects, to examine conduct a study on the street and then produce ideas and concepts on how the Alliance can reinvigorate the street.

City will revamp Place d’Armes, downtown squares – The Gazette

The Gazette reports

“The city has earmarked $20 million for the redesign of Place d’Armes in Old Montreal and the restoration of Dorchester Square and Place du Canada this year.

Cardinal Hardy/Teknika-HBA – the urban landscape architects responsible for the recent reconfiguration of Norman Bethune Square near Concordia University and the design of Place d’Youville in Old Montreal – have begun work on plans to revamp the two public spaces.”

Bader Development sees slowdown as opportunity, readies St. Louis Park apartment project – Finance and Commerce

“We believe it’s a great time to develop because there’s not a whole lot being developed,” said Robb Bader, vice president of acquisitions and development for St. Louis Park-based Bader Development. His firm, in fact, is gearing up to break ground on a $31 million apartment development in St. Louis Park.

The St. Louis Park-based developer is planning to begin construction on The Ellipse, a project offering 132 rental units and 16,000 square feet of ground floor retail space, at the northwest corner of France Avenue and Excelsior Boulevard.

The
project team includes Minneapolis-based DJR Architecture,
Minneapolis-based Damon Farber Associates as landscape architect and
the Hopkins-based Frana Companies as general contractor. The
Minneapolis-based Ackerberg Group will lease the commercial space in
the building.
