Registration opens today to find new design ideas for London’s Royal Docks. The Landscape Institute and Ecobuild, with support from the Mayor of London and London Borough of Newham, have launched ‘The Royal Docks Ideas Competition’ to find innovative design proposals that would transform the Royal Docks into a multi-functional, ‘liveable’ space. Comprised of three docks in East London – Royal Albert Dock, Royal Victoria Dock and King George V Dock – the Royal Docks is the largest enclosed docks in the world with a water area of nearly 90 hectares. The judging panel want entrants to incorporate green infrastructure and water sensitive design ideas into their proposals in an effort to make the area more resilient against environmental, social and economic challenges and to transform it into a world class location.

Recently 5 teams were shortlisted for stage 2 of the “Russia” Park design competition by members of the Jury and the Expert Council, as well as representatives of “Russia” Theme Park. The experts presented their conclusions on the results of evaluation of application documents.
All the experts unanimously agreed on 5 applications out of the 18 and the participants of the Stage 2 of the International Contest are:
The participants of the second stage of the International Contest for the concept and financial model of “Russia” Park and will start developing the contest proposals untill the closing date of the Contest in December 2013.

Back in June we published the Garden Bridge project by Thomas Heatherwick Studio in collaboration with Dan Pearson Studio and ARUP. Recently, the public consultation process was initiated with new images and an online survey allowing for public to give feedback on the designs and plans in these early stages to assist the newly established Garden Bridge Trust in developing their plans.
The Garden Bridge Trust is a new charity, established to promote and seek funding to build and maintain a new footbridge spanning the Thames linking South Bank to Temple.

For years, square Munthof in the historical city center was an abandoned public garden, urgently in need of renovation. The place was known for its graffiti art works and was a favorite spot for drugs, junkies, vandalism. After a process of years with stakeholder participation from the neighborhood, the City of Antwerp organized a competition for a new park design.
