BDP wins Rochdale town centre design competition

BDP has won a RIBA competition to transform Rochdale town centre. The competition was launched to improve the look of the town centre and better connect the two sides of the River Roch, following plans to reopen it.

“It’s no surprise that parts of Britain are being devastated by floods again” says President of Landscape Institute

Recently the large parts of England have faced severe flooding with the Environment Agency continuing to issue flood warnings for most parts of England and the River Thames reaching its highest level for 10 years. Sue Illman, President of the Landscape Institute has issues a statement calling for the UK to look beyond the pipe and invest in SuDs as acceptable economic and sustainable way of protecting towns and cities against flooding. “The recent floods across the country have once again exposed the UK’s lack of resilience when confronted by extreme wet weather.  The existing sewer infrastructure can’t cope, and the government appears paralysed when it comes to fully implementing the Flood and Water Management Act.

Cushman & Wakefield led team wins “Russia” Park competition

Back in November, a shortlist was announced for Russia Park and now the competition is complete with Cushman & Wakefield announced as the winners of competition to design the concept and financial model of “Russia” Theme Park.

The Jury and the Expert Council meeting of the International Contest for the concept and financial model of “Russia” Theme Park devoted to selection of the winner and other finalists was held on the 20th of December.

With a projected growth rate of 10,000 new residents, Luleås vision is to create new attractive residential areas and densify their urban core. In collaboration with Luleås City Planning Department, Temagruppens urban planners have developed an Urban Vision Document which capitalizes on the City’s proximity to surrounding water, and focuses on long term sustainability.

New Dutch Waterline National Centre | Bunnik Netherlands | Parklaan

The parking field with tetrahedrons that evoke memories of anti-tank barricades. Parklaan under the instruction of Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie project office (New Dutch Waterline) and the Province of Utrecht creatively designed the main entrance of the New Dutch Waterline National Centre (and Limes). The most important challenge was to design a car park for 250 cars and a pedestrain access to Fort Vechten. The design was made in cooperation with the visual artist Paul de Kort.
