Auckland firm to design $3b bridge – NZ Herald News

NZ Herald News reports

“An Auckland engineering firm has won the contract to design a US$1.5 billion ($2.9 billion) Bangladesh bridge.

Maunsell AECOM NZ Newmarket office scored the job for the Padma Bridge, which is to be Bangladesh’s largest and connect the south-west region with the country’s capital Dhaka.”

Quake-hit panda reserve awaits Hong Kong aid – People’s Daily Online

People’s Daily Online reports

“Work to rebuild Sichuan province’s Wolong Nature Reserve, which was destroyed in the massive May 12 earthquake last year, is expected to start later this month after an aid program gets a nod from the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government.

The epicenter of the 8-magnitude earthquake was just 30 km from Wolong. The disaster left a panda dead and another missing ever since.

The bureau has jointly developed a reconstruction plan with Peking University, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Beijing-based Turenscape Company.”

Master plan for development of PCB areas soon-The Times of India

The Times of India  reports “A master plan for the development of infrastructure in the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) jurisdiction is in the offing. Board members are contemplating over forming a committee for studying infrastructure requirements of the cantonment with a view to develop the plan.”

OMA of Netherlands to design Taipei Performing Arts Centre

monstersandcritics.com – Dutch firm Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) beat 135 rivals from 24 countries on Thursday to win the contract to design a world-class performing arts centre in the Taiwan capital Taipei.
