The existing garden comprised a series of stepped terraces with little useable space. The brief was to create a more useable garden with a large terrace to the rear for entertainment.
In 2011 White arkitekter was winner of the competition for the Forumtorget project in Uppsala. The proposal, with its subdued paving, expressive sofa and generous plateau, is powerful, substantive and empathetic. Here, the people of Uppsala have a natural meeting place and an open breathing space within the built-up business district. The project will be realized in 2016 after the reconstruction of the adjacent building is finished.
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum recently announced its 2015-16 Landscape Lectures series. There will be four lectures in the series covering the works of Richard Haag, Walter Hood, Margie Ruddick and Mario Schjetnan. The annual series of engaging and inspirational presentations from leading voices in the field of landscape architecture. Internationally renowned designers present their recent work articulating landscape as a medium of design for the social, cultural, and ecological life of the city.
TOPOTEK 1’s entry for the International Invited Design Competition “Landscape Master Plan of GIFT City and its components” has been selected as the winner between four participants. The competition has been held by the Gujarat International Finance Tec City Limited, a Government of Gujarat promoted company.
LANDMARK AS SYMBOL OF SUSTAINABLE GROWTH
The form evolves step by step over time from the excavated earth from the building construction showing the new city growth. This dynamic process is a catalyst and signature feature of the general landscape master plan, avoiding earth transportation offering a sustainable approach by recycling all sources on site. The resulting 70 meter highly visible landmark allows a scale transition between the surrounding flat landscape and the high-rise towers. Atop its terrain, a diverse programme revolving around culture, leisure and sports ensures a rich community space for members of all ages.
