Fort Mason Center has selected West 8 as the winner of its 2012 design competition for the 13-acre waterfront campus in San Francisco. The three-month long competition sought creative and practical design concepts to further enliven and integrate the site. The design will enable Fort Mason Center to realize its full potential, both as a vital and stimulating location for arts and culture, and as an attractive destination for enjoyment of the site.

 IMAGE CREDIT | Scott Stevenson, Westrec The 31st Street Harbor, one of the largest harbors built in Chicago in the last 50 years, transforms an underused portion of Lake Michigan lakeshore into a new public amenity. Unlike traditional harbors that are typically commercial ventures, this project took the approach of integrating the 1,000-slip marina with a park, melding high-tech engineering with thoughtful place-making.
Taking the themes of sport and ecology, the HASSELL response provides for a range of passive and active recreational activities within a park and wetland setting. Our goal was to create a destination for both individuals and groups; a place where sport and ecology mix seamlessly, support and complement one another in a balanced environment.  West 8 – Fort Mason Finalist Fort Mason Center in San Francisco has revealed the three finalists designs from Bruner/Cott, West 8 and AMP Arquitectos for the Fort Mason Design Competition. The finalists were selected from twenty invited firms, in selecting the three finalists the jury looked for a partner to articulate a sustainable future for Fort Mason Center helping to develop a suite of ideas that will evolve as the campus moves forward.
