In this village of Burgundy crossed by a main heavy trafficked road, the sidewalks were the unique public space. Moreover this main road separated the village in two parts. The aim of the project was to break the ascendancy of this main road. Every city, even a village, should have a common public space to inhabitants and outer people.
By studying the territory and geography of the village, enabled us to understand the logic of the urban settlement. In order to represent the founding element of the village, the design uses the ‘ru de Vallan’ river as the focus point of the new public open space. A new riverbed has been created so that the new course of the river crosses the created plaza in its middle.

The Strategic Plan for the Petra Region in Jordan, one the “New Seven Wonders of the World,” will receive the 2012 American Planning Association’s Pierre L’Enfant International Planning Award. The strategic plan balances the need for the preservation of important archaeological resources with the need for increased tourism and economic growth.
The Pierre L’Enfant International Planning Award recognizes planning practices and efforts undertaken outside the United States to promote communities of lasting value. The international landscape architecture, land planning, urban design and strategic services firm, Design Workshop, was the only American entity within the three-partner consortium that the Petra Development Tourism Regional Authority (PDTRA) retained to complete the strategic plan.

Stretching along Manhattan’s west side, Riverside Park South is an urban miracle on the Hudson and the last link in Manhattan’s west side greenway. Its creation involved working with local and state government agencies, community groups, stakeholders and the client to create a vibrant new public space that reintroduced the community to the water’s edge and responded to the unique industrial history and riparian ecology of the site.

Learning environments are constantly evolving to stay in stride with the world around us. The factors that influence how and where we choose to educate our future generation are many. With the pace of the world’s technological innovation, and the increasing level of convenience and distraction it provides, there is a realistic concern that people, kids especially, risk losing a tangible connection and respect for the natural world. As a landscape architect, being asked to shape an educational environment, the first responsibility is to create a healthy, safe and inspirational setting. Secondly, it is an opportunity to bring the natural world out of the background, and back into focus in a fun and inspiring way.

The Central Delaware Riverfront Master Plan has received a 2012 Honor Award in the category of Regional and Urban Design from the American Institute of Architects. OLIN worked in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team including Cooper Robertson & Partners, KieranTimberlake, HR&A Advisors and over thirty stakeholder groups to create the master plan for the riverfront in downtown Philadelphia.

Designated as one of the UK Government’s new Enterprise Zones last March, the Airport City project has received a substantial amount of interest and the detailed masterplan created by Manchester Airports Group (MAG) with Urban Strategies Inc., Drivers Jonas Deloitte, and Jones Lang LaSalle, including 5Plus Architects, AECOM, Davis Langdon and Planit. The masterplan sets out the vision to transform Manchester Airport from a transport hub into an international business destination.
