As the gateway city of Eastern Anhui, Chuzhou is only 50km from Nanjing and is one of the core cities in the metropolitan circle of Nanjing. Chuzhou is also one of the birth places of Xiwu Lake Culture. It has a long history and is famous for folk-culture activities.

CCNY’s event on Febraury 9 will examine storm protection opportunities that incorporate multiple infrastructure systems.
“After experiencing two destructive tropical storms in as many years, New York City finds itself forced to adapt to the reality of catastrophic weather events resulting from climate change. However, it cannot rely on simple fixes. Rather, it needs to create new urban landscapes with the capacity to negotiate social, cultural, and environmental forces, argues Denise Hoffman-Brandt, associate professor of landscape architecture in City College’s Spitzer School of Architecture.”

The previously isolated Kievit district has developed into an international entrance area for the city due to the new TGV station. After earlier realization of the first phase with mainly high-rise offices, the city of Antwerp made an urban plan for the second phase containing a mix of homes, offices and public facilities, and with more space to create a green public domain. For the design of the public space of the Kievit phase 2 area, five design teams were selected to provide a vision and sketch design.
