The basis of the project stars from the idea to formalize the dynamics of the torrents. The torrents are streams with intermittent flows typical of Mediterranean climates. This means that in times of heavy rain the water drag down all kinds of materials, while in times of drought, there are small grooves that draw an intertwined trace in the earth.

A residential landscape that integrates the owner’s heritage, French with their place of residence: Florida. An exposed and unused lawn is converted into a poetic display of hardy native plants and trees which require little maintenance and no water during the dry season. The driveway integrates elements of French formality de-constructed classic shapes of Versailles parterres floating in a bed of Florida seashells.

World’s Largest Rooftop Farm Planned For Brooklyn

A multi-acre farm will be built on 100,000 square feet of rooftop space in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park—making it the largest rooftop farm in the world. The state-of-the-art, hydroponic greenhouse is being built and will grow up to 1 million pounds of local produce per year, including tomatoes, lettuces and herbs, which will cultivate a new national model for urban agriculture.

To spin a yard | Amiens France | Atelier Altern

Atelier Altern created an installation in the French city of Amiens where the first edition of « Imaginez maintenant » was taking place.

« Imaginez Maintenant » is a national event in support of youth creation, including performances, fashion, architecture and poetry, as well as an experimentation field for young landscapers to share, over the summer, a contextual and sensitive vision on emblematic French heritage sites. In order to represent the profession of landscape architect among the national sphere of creation, the city of Amiens through the center of art programmes of Amiens (Maison de la Culture d’Amiens) has given the possibility to transform emblematic French heritages sites of the town : the islands of the Hortillonnages, a curious site of floating gardens.
