NEXY | South Australia | Taylor Cullity Lethlean

Taylor Cullity Lethlean were engaged in 2007 to assist DTEI in the preparation of a reference design for the urban and landscape design component of the Northern Expressway. Taylor Cullity Lethlean formed a team involving architects Tonkin Zulaikha Greer, lighting specialist Bluebottle, sculptor Robert Owen and illustration artist Robin Eley. All work was lead and managed by Taylor Cullity Lethlean. A highly collaborative process was undertaken with DTEI staff, particularly NEXY landscape architect Jordana Wilson. Extensive collaboration also occurred with environmental managers, structural and civil engineers.

St.Petersburg Pier Design Competition Finalists

St. Petersburg has sponsored an international design competition for the redesign and replacement of its landmark Pier.  Finalists included  Bjarke Ingels Group, Michael Maltzan Architecture, and WEST 8 Urban Design and Landscape Architecture who submitted their designs on November 29 and are now displayed at the “Look, Think, Share” exhibit for public viewing and comment from December 6 to December 30.

Prompted by the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup, The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) earmarked the ELLIS PARK PRECINCT for urgent need of rejuvenation. This inner-city development was to function as a Sports Hub connecting the upgraded Ellis Park Stadiums with the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system to the north and taxi rank to the south while featuring sculptural art work and including the rehabilitation of the adjacent railway embankment.

OLIN earns Cities that Learn Award for Patch/Work

OLIN-Living City Design Competition

The organic nature of the distribution of community greens and new building stock correlates to the dynamic nature of eco-zoning which favors transformation at the parcel level, allowing the neighborhoods to evolve over time rather than the conventional approach of wholesale replacement.

OLIN‘s submission to the Living City Design Competition, has recently earned them the Cities that Learn Award from the International Living Future Institute and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The award acknowledges that OLIN’s proposal remained true to the project site’s rich, historical roots, and explored how social equity can lead to ecologically restored cities. The project team was led by OLIN Partner and Director of Research Skip Graffam, and included collaborators Interface Studio and Digsau. The team was one of six winners out of over 80 entrants from across the globe.
