The first set of small-scale urban wind turbines in the U.S. are being installed in Portland atop the new Twelve|West tower this week. Today the Hoffman Construction should raise the final blades to the top of Twelve|West a 22 storey office and residential building. Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects LLP, which designed the tower, has moved its corporate headquarters to the building.
Glenn Murcutt, the Pritzker prize-winning architect has spoken out about the new and revised architecture and landscape architecture at Newcastle University. Murcutt, particlarly points out that he is amazed at the cutting down of trees and the change in plant material used on the site. He goes on to online that the design process should have been different and consultation with the original architects and masterplanners.
The Bidhannagar Municipality had last year proposed that the state tourism department develop the 20-sqkm wetland area almost twice the size of Salt Lake falling under its jurisdiction as an eco-tourism centre. However, no initiative has been taken since then to take the plan forward. The proposal had come in the wake of promoters allegedly trying to construct buildings in parts of the wetlands.
