The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire is a frequented destination for many families. Nearby the Children’s Museum is Dover’s city-owned Henry Law Park. The Museum and the City wanted to work together to create a playground that could serve as a destination for families. The opportunity for the park to enhance the current development of a city that provided a thriving family community in Dover was apparent to the city. Earlier this month Hélène Mandroux, Mayor of Montpellier announced that West 8 in collaboration with Montpellier architects, Boyer-Percheron-Assus, is the winner of the urban design competition for the conversion of the former School of Infantry site (EAI) (35 ha) in the city of Montpellier. Team West 8 beat fellow competitors BIG Agency and Bau-B. West 8’s proposal emphasizes rejuvenation of the pre-existing condition to “subtly transform the site from one state to another, without upsetting the heritage” explains Michaël Delafosse, Deputy Major and urbanism delegate. The proposed redevelopment of the EAI into a new district will be presented to the public in September. Development of the neighborhood will be led by Thierry Laget from SAAM (Development Company of the city of Montpellier).

In 2011, The City of Kunshan decided to form an education and outreach hub in the west end of the city. This involved relocating the historic Kunshan West High School, a premier high school in the city, in conjunction with the establishment of a satellite campus for Duke University.
Not known for public space, Phoenix, Arizona is often cited as an example of American suburban sprawl. But a new story of successful urbanism has emerged from this desert cityscape with the opening of Civic Space Park. This public space sits on a 2.7-acre site in downtown Phoenix, offering residents, workers, students, and visitors a new kind of urban typology, bringing together smart urban design, green space, multiple shade structures, an interactive LED lighting show, public art—and a lesson in low carbon design. The new City Garden in Valby(district of Copenhagen) offers lush green hills, flowering beds, playful elements and a new meeting place for the residents of all ages living in the area. The City Garden consist of three main element; The Urban Forest, placed in the gardens southern part, has an open canopy of different oak trees forming a ceiling, while the square itself is open from all sides.
