DELVA Landscape Architects and the Association Ceuvel present the Purifying the Ceuvel Park. On the 21st of june, a new creative hotspot in Amsterdam Noord officially opens. The last few months, tenants, volunteers and students, worked hard on the boats, the jetty, the Ceuvel Café and the park.

THE ETERNAL CITY?
Due to faster than expected sea level rise, scientists project that even the drastic intervention of the M.O.S.E. sea barrier project will only delay the permanent flooding of Venice by 100 to 200 years. In this future vision of drastically altered climate conditions, coastal cities such as Venice will have to physically and economically reinvent themselves in order to survive.

Fen River is the mother river of Taiyuan City. It runs from north to south through the city and fosters the history, culture and development of the region. The project site is located at the joining point of old town and new urban area with a total of 2.57km2 (50 Hectares) riverfront landscape area. The project connects existing community on the east with Changfeng Business District, a new civic and business center west of Fen River. Being built in the spring of 2013, Fen River Park is now a popular public space and a new landmark of Taiyuan City.

Rios Clementi Hale Studios’ environmentally friendly landscape design achieves GSA’s cost-saving sustainability goals in three interconnected ways: ecologically, economically, and culturally. In terms of ecology, the landscape design reintroduces native plants that require little supplemental irrigation, provides irrigation by collecting and re-using rainwater, filters stormwater runoff in on-site bioswales, decreases water usage by 85%, and replaces broad areas of unnecessary pavement with shade to help reduce heat island effect.

Wen Yu Kee from the University of New South Wales is the winner of the 2013 HASSELL Travelling Scholarship – Robin Edmond Award. The annual award recognises landscape architecture students studying in Australia who show outstanding potential for future contribution to the profession. It provides the winner with the opportunity to expand their education by travelling abroad and immersing themselves in a destination of their choice that is undergoing significant urban development or renewal.
