The 55-acre on-structure landscape design for Qianshan New City sits atop two levels of parking and employs an aggressive topographic response and rich park program to humanize the unrelenting architectural density of its sixty 30-story towers serving 15,000 people.This mixed-use development, currently under construction, is recognized as the largest single-phase project in China. For the new location of the NHL University OKRA has made, in association with Architecture Studio Hertzberger, the design for the exterior space. This consists of a solid green carpet laid out as a counterpart to the imposing building. The green grass and trees continue under the building connecting the inner and outer worlds together. A spider-like network of routes and places creates an extension of the building from inside to outside.
Milton Street Park is a proposed 1.2-acre linear urban park alongside the Ballona Creek Bike Trail in Los Angeles, California. Currently the bike trail is a non-descript paved path directly adjacent to the creek, separated from the road by a metal fence, which inevitably deters pedestrians and natural wildlife from sharing the space with recreational bikers.
