Construction has started on Naturbad Riehen, a natural swimming pool for the municipality of Riehen. A project that dates back to the founding of Herzog & de Meuron in 1978. After winning a competition in 1979 and developing several unrealized projects in the following years, Herzog & de Meuron were commissioned to rethink the concept of a new pool in 2007.

The primary concern of the masterplan was to recreate an ecosystem which addresses the physical and psychological comfort of the elephants and Mumbai-based architects Rahul Mehrotra and Associates were invited to lead the initiative. The settlement was to be a habitat for a hundred elephants, which included ones on active duty, calves, convalescent and aging animals as well as their mahouts (Elephant Keepers).

Spring has sprung in much of the Northern Hemisphere and to celebrate Vancouver International Airport (YVR) has produced a short video featuring Randy Sharp from Sharp & Diamond who have partnered closely with YVR Airport Authority for more than 20 years while providing prime consultant design services, management, and overseeing landscape implementation.

The AIDS Memorial design has recently been updated with the loss of the ivy and flowering plants. studio A+I is still the design firm in charge of developing the design for the memorial, with the design progressing with retention of the overall form and linear benches but has lost the natural aesthetic of the mid-2012 design, it appears to be more harsh, static and less inviting. The water feature remains as the focal point under the structure.
