SPLA, the public development agency in charge of the transformation of Presqu’ile de Caen, has chosen MVRDV out of 3 competitors to transform the 600ha area consisting of former industry and ports. The MVRDV plan envisions the future of Caen Presqu’ile as a collection of gardens surrounded by intensified urban area. It envisions Caen as an attractive city with a connection to the sea whilst interventions improve landscape, environment, mobility and connections. The project is planned to last ten years or longer…

Westminster City Council has commissioned Grant Associates, UK landscape architects, and Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, urban designers and architects, as part of a multidisciplinary team to devise a twenty-year infrastructure and public realm plan for Church Street, London, to support the council’s housing renewal strategy. Residents have just voted in favour of proceeding with the first phase of regeneration plans for Church Street in a ward-wide referendum.

Urban Explorer Table: A large multi touch surface where you can use simple and intuitive gestures to explore and evaluate various urban development projects . The graphics and interaction are fluid and fast, the gestures natural. The table becomes a tool for cities to discuss developments, city infrastructure, energy use and other data in a more visual format and easy to read representation that can be easily read by citizens.
Urban Explorer Table 2 was developed by Interactive Institute Swedish ICT together with the city planning office of Norrköping in Sweden in close collaboration with Visualisation Centre C, Hyresbostäder in Norrköping and City Planning Office of Gothenburg. The team Witteveen+Bos, OKRA and ZJA has won the integral design tender for the Jaarbeursplein Utrecht and the underground parking. The vision of the winning team focusses on the realisation of the perfect parking, with a comfortable, lively, and socially safe city square on top of it, in which transfer and accommodation are designed in a recognizable and inviting way.
