Top 20 Indian cities hold keys to urban growth-The Economic Times

Economic Times of India reports that Twenty top boom cities in India are projected to have their household income grow at 10% annually over the next 8 years, and they already account for 60% of the surplus income (income minus expenditure) generated at present.

Even as businesses search for promising new markets among thousands of booming small towns that dot the country, they should pause and reassess the potential of India’s top 20 cities, according to a new study “The Next Urban Frontier: Twenty Cities To Watch”, co-authored by National Council of Applied Economic Research’s (NCAER) Rajesh Shukla and Future Capital Research’s Roopa Purushothaman. Lisbon developers waiting for buildings to be condemned

The Portugal Resident reports that “HUNDREDS OF Lisbon city centre buildings are standing empty because owners don’t have the money to do them up.

Despite being granted planning permission for improvements and change of use, many 19th and early 20th century buildings remain in a dilapidated and rundown state because the owners believe it is cheaper to wait until they have to be torn down and sell the land on to developers….”
