The just completed Parramatta City River Strategy prepared by McGregor Coxall was recently endorsed by Parramatta Council. The urban design strategy prepared over the past twelve months in consultation with the community outlines an urban renewal plan for AUD$194 million of riverfront public space and facilities together with over a billion dollars of mixed use development to reunite the city with the river.

The goal of the assignment for Active City Transformation was to develop an innovative outdoor space that included space for cultural exchange, physical activities – formal and informal – and a common space for social interaction across age, gender, ethnicity and class around the lake of Trekroner, 50km west of Copenhagen. The Trekroner Plaza now serves as a natural meeting place and by that creates a new quality of public life that engages the residents and the students of the University culturally, socially and actively.

However, there is still a lack of focus on the primary issue: connectedness between the downtown core and the waterfront. In 2014, the Young Leaders division of the Toronto chapter of the Urban Land Institute issued a call for ideas relating to this very question: How would you better connect Toronto with its waterfront?

A substantial challenge for downtown is the lack of park space. This parklet, to remain in place for a year or two, offers people a chance to relax outside and connect to nature in multiple ways.

ADEPT & Mandaworksare now officially announced winners of the large urban development of Kolkajen-Ropsten in Stockholm’s Royal Seaport, Sweden. The Jury appointed the proposal, ’Royal Neighbour’ as the winner of the parallel assignment on basis of it’s high architectural and urban qualities. Since summer 2014, the team has worked closely with the city of Stockholm to develop the masterplan. The ambitious phase 1 will commence building in 2017.
