Bahrain planning green areas

Gulf Daily News reports that Bahrain is looking to go green with a ‘one plan’ initiative. The initiative is lead by Skidmore Owings Merril (SOM) who are looking into several areas for building communities and waterfront areas.

The Hai He River Landscape Design project in Tianjin, China, was joint winner in the Consultancy Project (<£2m) of the Year category. Through landscape design and the creation of high quality public space, this project, in the heart of Tianjin, is a successful example of environment-led regeneration creating a sustainable resource for the present and future generations to enjoy.

East Village Riverwalk plan debuts – Calgary Canada

The developer for Calgary’s East Village will reveal the plans for the redevelopment to the public today. The project has suffered many delays and false starts over many years.

The plans for the first stage will redevelop a 4km section of the riverwalk connecting the East Village to Downtown.

UT Dallas breaks ground on major landscaping project | Richardson | pegasusnews.com

Pegasis News reports

“On Thursday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m., there’ll be a groundbreaking ceremony adjacent to the McDermott Library on the campus of the University of Texas at Dallas.

The groundbreaking marks the start of a major landscaping project undertaken by the firm of Peter Walker and Partners, who have been contracted to spiff up the ol’ UTD grounds in welcoming and user-friendly fashion.”

Abu Dhabi University’s new campus inaugurated

The new Abu Dhabi Campus of the Abu Dhabi University (ADU) was officially inaugurated yesterday. Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the ADU Board of Trustees, inaugurated the AED600 million ultra-modern new campus on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
