Am 21. März 2014 eröffnet der Senator für Stadtentwicklung und Umwelt Michael Müller gemeinsam mit der Bezirksbürgermeisterin Angelika Schöttler, der Stadträtin für Gesundheit, Soziales und Stadtentwicklung Dr. Sibyll Klotz und dem Stadtrat für Bauwesen Daniel Krüger des Bezirkes Tempelhof Schöneberg sowie dem Geschäftsführer der UTB GmbH Thomas Bestgen die südliche Fortsetzung des Parks am Gleisdreieck, den so genannten Flaschenhalspark.

Senator Michael Müller: „Der Flaschenhalspark ist Teil des Nord-Süd-Grünzuges sowie der Schönbergerschleife. Zum einen verbindet er die Parkanlagen im Regierungsviertel, den Potsdamer Platz und den Park am Gleisdreieck mit dem Natur-Park Schöneberger Südgelände und zum anderen ist er Teil eines sechs Kilometer langen grünen Weges durch den Bezirk Tempelhof-Schönberg. Gleichzeitig wird der Fernradweg Berlin-Leipzig, der heute schon im Park am Gleisdreieck verläuft, um ein wichtiges Teilstück erweitert. Für die Berlinerinnen und Berliner, die Bewohnerinnen und Bewohner der angrenzenden Kieze ergeben sich neue Möglichkeiten der Naherholung, sei es zu Fuß, per Rad oder mit dem Skateboard. Möglich wurde dies auch durch das Engagement der UTB GmbH und natürlich durch die Mitwirkung des Bezirkes Tempelhof-Schöneberg.“

Den ungewöhnlichen Namen verdankt der Flaschenhals seiner Form, die einer auf den Kopf gestellten Flasche ähnelt. Das ca. 5,5 ha große Gelände befindet sich im Bezirk Tempelhof-Schöneberg auf dem ehemaligen Bahngelände zwischen Yorckstraße und Monumentenbrücke.
