In partnership with the Philadelphia International Airport, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society recently announce the five finalists that will compete to redesign 130 acres of land around the Philadelphia airport. The goal of the competition is to create an “Image Maker” landscape that showcases an iconic PHL landscape, enhances the environmental sustainability of the Airport landscape, and provides a customer-friendly arrival and departure experience.
The following five firms have been selected to participate in the Design Competition:
- James Corner Field Operations
- Mathews Nielsen Landscape Architects
- Phyto Studio
- West 8
Each of the five finalist teams will receive a stipend of $20,000 to develop a thoughtful, creative, environmentally appropriate concept plan and associated budget for the PHL Airport. The new design will replace the current landscape that features large areas that are both planted and naturalized.
Final concepts will be displayed at the 2018 Flower Show, Wonders of Water, from March 3-11
